Free Books Online For Adults and Children

I  found  a number of sites that offer free books and audio books online and thought I would share them. This first one is a neat site that has illustrated children's stories for young children to young adults. Some of the stories also have audio to go along with them. They also have phonics links, riddles, quizzes, as well as links to other good sites. It's a cute site for kids. http://www.magickeys.com/books/

If you like audio books and the classics, Audio Literature Odyssey is a great site. Voice-actor and writer Nikolle Doolin narrates many of the classics from authors like" Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe, Jane Austen, Henry James, Edith Wharton, Lord Alfred Tennyson and many others. Worth exploring. http://nikolledoolin.com/alo/

Another site for classic audio books is  http://freeclassicaudiobooks.com/ Audio books are available in MP3 or M4B format for iTunes and iPod. They have a link to free iTune player software on the site. You can also send in book requests and they add new books often.

Lit2Go is online literature from Florida's Educational Technology Clearinghouse. They have an extensive collection of children's literature and the classics. They offer formats in MP3, PDF and online viewing.  http://etc.usf.edu/lit2go/author/authors.html

If classic poetry is your love, then you will enjoy Classic Poetry Aloud. Many poems to listen to. http://classicpoetryaloud.podomatic.com/

If you are looking for Bibles in MP3 format Audio Treasure is a great site. http://www.audiotreasure.com/ They also have a collection of free Christian audio books, worship songs in MP3. They have the following translations which makes it a great site to share with others: King James, World English, Spanish Reina Valera, Mandarin, Cantonese NT, Gospels and Psalms in Arabic, Hindi NT, Tamil NT, Tagalog NT, Urdu NT, Punjabi NT, Polish, French, and links to more Bible audio in different languages.

You can find free books in Kindle Edition and include free wireless delivery via Amazon Wispernet. http://www.amazon.com/Free-ebooks/lm/RZRBH08ZK5DC5

If that wasn't enough, I found another site that has 1,000,000 free online books. You can search by titles, authors, or topics. You can also search for images throughout all the books in the library, even by year and category. It's a great site for research as well. You can find the most relevant pages in the library that mention the topic you are researching. You can then search for words and phrases inside any book from their free online book reader.  You can choose to read books with any of the following: iPad & iPad mini, Windows & Android Tablets, Kindle, Download a PDF, or use their free book reader. If this interests you, visit Forgotten Books.org.

All of these sites are great for personal use but also a great resource for those who are homeschooling or for those in college. Now all you need to do is pick a book, make a cup of tea or hot chocolate and sit down to listen or read a good story. Enjoy!
